The best approach would be to download grades from the Participation Report then delete all the unnecessary columns, leaving only student names and email addresses (feel free to also use the Template Roster attached to this article!). The specific steps may vary depending on your LMS. Here are some examples:

On Blackboard,
  1. Go into the course you want to view.
  2. Choose "Grade Center" under the "Control Panel".
  3. Click on "Full Grade Center".
  4. Click on the gray "Work Offline" button at the top, right corner
  5. Click "Download"
  6. Choose the "User Information Only" option for "Select Data to Download"
  7. Click "Submit"
  8. Open the downloaded file and delete all unnecessary columns leaving student names and email addresses
  9. Save and name the file "[YourName]_RosterTermYY" (example: Jones_RosterF18.csv

On Canvas,
  1. Check the sidebar and navigate to the "Grades" tab
  2. Click on "Export" and choose the "CSV file" link
  3. Open the file and delete all unnecessary columns leaving student names and email addresses
  4. Save and name the file "[YourName]_RosterTermYY"

Note: The roster might not include the emails but the student's SIS Login ID, which is the first part of the email address (example: student123 = student123@students.sbts.edu). If you can't find the email, the login IDs are good too!

On D2L,

  1. On the "Enter Grades" page, click "Export"
  2. On the "Export Grades" page, keep the Last Name, First Name, and Email checkboxes selected under "User Details"
  3. Check the top checkbox under "Choose Grades to Export" to clear all the grade items
  4. Click "Export" to CSV
  5. In the Export Grades pop-up window, click on the hyperlink to download
  6. Open the file and delete all unnecessary columns leaving student names and email addresses
  7. Save and name the file "[YourName]_RosterTermYY"

After that, submit your roster using the link that your Packback rep sent you!
